Biography
Sam Lloyd is a PhD candidate at ISTP and the Center for Security Studies (CSS). Previously Sam worked in a variety of research roles in South Africa, Ghana and Thailand. He holds a Masters in Public Health (Epidemiology and Biostatistics) degree from the University of Cape Town, and an MSc in Wellbeing and Human Development from the University of Bath. His current research focuses on the evaluation of policies and interventions to reduce violence in urban settings. Of particular interest is the impact of urban upgrading interventions on types of informal guardianship and other forms of social control in Cape Town, South Africa and Bogota, Colombia.
