Biography
David Kretzer completed his doctorate at ETH Zurich ISTP (Institute for Science, Technology and Policy) in January 2021. His research was part of the ISTP's Urban Research Incubator, focusing on outdoor lighting in informal settlements.
He had previously worked for several years as a lighting product manager in Dornbirn and Basel and as a lighting designer in Shanghai.
During his time in Basel, he and Kornelius Reutter invented the Lightpad family of floor lamps (patent: EU 16207033.8-1757), which won the German Design Award 2017, the Red Dot Award 2017 and the iF Design Award 2017.
