Biography
Christiaan Joubert is a PhD candidate at the Laboratory for Energy Conversion (LEC) and the Urban Research Incubator (URI) at the Institute for Science, Technology and Policy (ISTP). Christiaan started his PhD after completing his master’s degree in electrical engineering at Stellenbosch University, and his bachelor's in electronic engineering at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
His current work at the URI focusses on developing digital models of cities in order to study potential policy impacts, with a specific focus on Cape Town, South Africa. At the LEC he is part of the Enerpol group, which uses large-scale, digital models to access future energy strategies in electricity and gas, as well as assessing the future population and mobility scenarios.
