Biography
Stephanie holds a Masters in Architecture from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and is a Candidate PhD at the Institute for Science, Technology and Policy (ISTP). She is based in the interdisciplinary research team, the Urban Research Incubator (URI) focusing on urban transformation in Colombia and South Africa toward spatial equalities and more inclusive cities. Stephanie’s work has a focus on design for social change in Post-Apartheid South Africa and she has worked in her home country on Architecture and Urban Design projects in marginalized neighborhoods. Her current research focuses on evidence-based design approaches to infrastructure planning and implementation in informal settlements in South Africa, with a focus on public lighting infrastructure.
